Zen is a broad trend with several different aspects.
The first aspect is the need that people have to renew themselves and reconnect
with their inner being; there is a feeling of serenity, aromatherapy, harmony, balance and
sacred spaces.
The trend for Mid-century Modernism within the home is being driven by the affordability of
collecting twentieth century design pieces, for example Florence Knoll, Charles and Ray Eames and
Arne Jacobsen. This period's designs had an amiable swagger, like the irresistible swing of an
up-tempo Sinatra song or the tongue in cheek aplomb of an early James Bond film.
Despite its lean, understuffed lines most of the furniture is very comfortable, which is a good
thing since its' come-hither appeal invites lounging. This was a time that was happy and
optimistic.
Botany and Bio-design for the new millenium inspired the trend for Eden.
In contrast to all the modern technology that we have in our homes, we continue to desire to
commune with nature in our secret garden environment. It's about bringing the outside inside
our home.
The second aspect is people's fascination with the concept of breaking through
their personal and physical boundaries. No longer wanting to feel confined by their home
environments has lead to a movement towards transparency and light within the home.
The final aspect of the Zen trend is minimalism. Because of the chaotic pace at which people
live they want their homes to be a contrast; simple, easy, uncluttered and spare.

Urban Nomad is the aesthetic of East meeting West resulting in a contemporary ethnic trend.
Think colors of India and Persia, global and local; it's about the continuing of different
cultures reflecting in individual shrines and sanctuaries, urban crafts and worldly ideas.
