SAXONY CARPET COMPANY was organized in 1945 to supply floor covering to the designer and decorator trade. Mr. Samuel Sack, the founder of Saxony, had been in the trade since 1937. The firm specialized in domestic broadloom at its inception. The company has grown with the industry and moved progressively uptown to its current location at 979 Third Avenue.
Saxony was the first carpet company to move into the D & D Building and has since increased its space several fold within the building. Over the years the firm has grown through innovation in design and concentration on being the best supplier of products, services and personal attention. Among the more obvious symbols of these efforts is the collection of "Roscoe" awards that Saxony has received, an industry leading total.
With the introduction of Alan Meiselman into the Saxony Carpet Company family in 1967, a period of unparalleled growth began. Saxony is now represented in major showrooms across the country. Mr. Meiselman has since become President, and continues to guide the company in the footsteps of the founder.
Pennie Sack Meiselman joined the firm in 1976, continuing the family tradition. Since that time a further expansion in design, color and new product introductions has been implemented and guided by Mrs. Meiselman.
